Block Party

And BBQ * 5:00-8:00pm

Back in the 1950s and 60s, Central Park hosted occasional summer block parties. They were simple events that offered gathering space and some music and food. Fast forward to 2011…Schenectady’s Central Park, since voted “Best Park in the Capital Region” many times over, is now stacked with ball fields, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, an award-winning rose garden, hiking, fishing, pedal boating, a snack bar and the Music Haven Stage. With a nod to tradition, plus a few modern twists, this Block Party will welcome community into the park for a simple summer evening of music, food and enjoyment of the park’s amenities.
